5 of the Best Local Wines to Get at Napa Supermarkets

From crisp Sauvignon Blancs perfect for poolside relaxation to robust Zinfandels ideal for BBQ pairings, we offer a variety of sophisticated, flavorful wines for every occasion. And the best part? They’re crafted right here in Napa Valley.

Below, we list some of our favorite local wines you can expect to see on shelves in Napa Supermarkets this summer.

1. Hendry Wines

Like Browns Valley Market, Hendry Wines has deep roots in Napa Valley. Established in the 19th century, this multi-generational Carneros winery boasts exceptional vineyard sites that have contributed to iconic Napa wines, such as those from Robert Mondavi Winery. They are still family-run today, producing celebrated wines with time-honored practices that bring a unique flavor to every sip.

This summer, we recommend trying Henry’s Albarino. This tangy white wine was made for warm-weather indulgence, with a floral and fruity taste reminiscent of nectarine, mango, and acidic key lime. This versatile wine pairs perfectly with light seafood dishes and salads.

2. Truchard Vineyards

The Truchard family’s winemaking legacy spans over a century, starting with a humble Texas vineyard. In the 1970s, they began planting grapes in the then-unproven Carneros region of Napa Valley. With innovation and a deep commitment to sustainable farming, the Truchard family name and vineyards have helped shape Carneros AVA into a renowned winemaking location. All their wines are grown, bottled, and produced on-site.

Truchard’s Roussanne is perfect for summer, with floral notes of jasmine, hints of vanilla, and a touch of honeydew melon. Its bright and clean flavors pair well with grilled chicken and light, lemony appetizers.

3. Frog’s Leap Winery

A free spirit in the winemaking world, John Williams wasn’t afraid to take a leap of faith when he founded Frog’s Leap Winery in 1981 with a vision to do things differently. Since the beginning, Frog’s Leap has maintained a strong commitment to organic, regenerative farming through traditional growing methods like dry farming, which relies on rain instead of irrigation. They center their winemaking practices around a deep understanding of the vine’s natural intuition and behavior, producing timeless wines that age beautifully and pay respect to the past.

Nothing says summer like Frog’s Leap Shale and Stone Chardonnay. Crafted from dry-farmed grapes, it delivers a refreshing, lively flavor with notes of stone fruit and mineral undertones. It pairs excellently with buttery pasta, mild and creamy cheeses, and vegetable-based dishes.

4. RAEN Winery

For generations, the Mondavi family has played an integral role in shaping Napa Valley winemaking traditions into what they are today. After selling ownership in the world-class Robert Mondavi Winery, the family established RAEN Winery in 2013. Founded by Carlo and Dante Mondavi, RAEN operates remote vineyards where rugged Pacific coastlines meet meadows and forest, resulting in unique Pinot Noir and Chardonnay that live up to the family name with sustainability and elegance.

RAEN’s Pinot Noir is 100% hand-farmed and offers a flavor reminiscent of rose petals, cherries, and wild strawberries. Try pairing it with mushroom-based dishes, pizza, or barbecue pork ribs for a well-rounded summer meal.

5. Robert Biale Vineyards

Robert Biale Vineyards is a Napa Valley icon renowned worldwide for its hearty, elegant Zinfandels. With a rich family history and winemaking roots dating back to the 1940s, what began as a humble under-the-table gig operated by a teenager is now an established name in the industry, producing world-class wines that celebrate heritage and sustainability.

With notes of plum, blackberry, toffee, and a hint of vanilla, Biale’s coveted Black Chicken Zinfandel boasts bold flavor and delicate acidity. It pairs great with spicy sausages, homemade pizza, and gouda cheese.
